This painting is entitled Prayer #4 the 4th oil painting in my "Praise Series", features an African-American woman giving praise to God. Praise gives glory to God and opens us up to a deeper union with Him. It turns our attention off of our problems and on the nature and character of God Himself.
About The Artist
Artist Statement
I photograph to expose the world to another side of beauty. I don't feel like everyone recognizes the small beauties of the world. Like the beauty of an ordinary little black girl
growing up in San Francisco. Or the beauty of places like The Gambia. No beauties of graffitti...or even just concrete. I don't see too many beauties of my communities of the world...so I try and show the beauties that I think are under-exposed.My inspiration to photograph and show comes from the world around me. Sometimes that world is a mother and child in The Gambia, a model in an african mask in Maryland,
graffiti in California...family in Kansas City, friends in Maryland... My photographs on a wall allow the unique beauties (and sometimes uglies) I see to
speak (even scream!) to the world.
