BIO Vicki L. Marckel’s artistic career began on the farmlands of Defiance, Ohio painting the local people and places. She was awarded her Bachelor of Science in Visual Arts from The Defiance College. As an honors student, she studied art and architecture in Italy and the Netherlands. In 2012, she earned a Master of Fine Arts from the Academy of Art University. Marckel enjoys teaching art at a secondary school in Maryland, as well as painting workshops for adults. Her work is shown in several galleries, private collections, and businesses. Her work has won several awards and honors. In 2015, she was commissioned by the Catholic Coalition of the Archbishops to paint “Saints of God, Come to Our Aide”. This painting was gifted to Pope Francis to commemorate his visit to America. Statement "As a child, I loved being near, on, and in the water. My favorite memories are swimming and sailing. While sailing, I feel completely free, free of stress, worry, time, etc. My goal was to create that sense of movement and freedom that sailing provides."
