Applied Fine Art Institute
The purpose of the Great Initiative For Talented Students Applied Fine Art Institute is to offer a positive youth development (PYD) intervention to enhance talent, creativity, resiliency, applied academic competencies, and social emotional competence of program participants. These classes are designed to help the student apply their academic study and knowledge to real life so they may increase their comprehension of their academic studies, making better progress.
The project offers 20 two-hour sessions offered year round. Each lesson is taken over two sessions. The lessons are designed to introduce participants to the basics of drawing, composition and painting and to cultivate artistic talent by involving youth in a program that will hone their observation and expression skills. The artwork they complete may be included in their portfolio submission to various art institutions and or to help the student understand their academic subjects through visual application.
