Bio
Ronald Jackson is a self-taught artist and painter who grew up in rural Arkansas. He became exposed and intrigued in fine art after moving to California following high school. Jackson took his first painting class while attending college, but joining the Army followed college and his interest in art became only an occasional hobby. In 2001, midway through his 21-year military career, Jackson had an epiphany that drove him to pursue a post military career as an artist. Jackson dedicated himself to personal study and disciplines which led him to receive a 'best of show' honors in his first public showing in 2010. Since then, Jackson has had three solo shows and has exhibited in several group shows within the DC, Maryland and Virginia area. Jackson's works have been collected both nationally and internationally, and currently has works in the collections of the US Embassies in both Gabon and Kenya, Africa.

Artist Statement
"Life is a continual experience of discovery. Contrasting things that are apparent with things that are taught can create a perspective that is unique to every individual. As a self-taught artist and painter, I seek to capture intimate settings as a gateway to ponder the complexities of the human experience. My goal is to create work that is visually poetic, that may subtly alter reality or add elements of a mystical quality - inviting the viewer to consider the effects of factors outside the borders of the canvas. It is my desire to master the element of mood and emotion rather than mastering the painting of objects. May my work compel the viewer to reflect on their own experiences and become a catalyst to trigger the self-discovery of value, beauty, and significance among people who, in some way, may feel marginalized."
