Encaustic on greenhouse grade glass, 34" x 24", 2016 (Giclée size: 34" h x 24" w.) (On view online only.) It’s mind boggling to me that there are fields which govern the interaction of all subatomic particles (Yang-Mills fields.) The microcosm and macrocosm of life’s forces of nature appear the same to me…from nebulae to microbe. - C. Goodridge |
Parallels and Strings (Dimensions of Being Series)Encaustic and rice paper on wood panel, 24” Diameter, 2016
The Dimensions of Being series is inspired by ideas and theories of Masaru Emoto's water messages; Edward Maryon's Marcotone Sound Color Theory, and Rupert Sheldrake's morphic resonance theory. Some paintings are visualizations attempting to realize the nature of matter and personal reality. My love of quantum and theoretical physics along with a Zen-Calypso upbringing rich in spirituality, music, dance and color leads me to create art that points to consciousness, light and love. - C. Goodridge is inspired by color field artists Helen Frankenthaler, Mark Tobey, Mark Rothko and Clyfford Still, Hans Hofmann, German Expressionist Vassily Kandinsky, and artwork on dreams and the collective unconscious by Paul Kleé.

STATEMENT
Through synesthesia, I hear and feel the resonance of color as sound, subtle vibration. Imagination points to space and time in a spectrum of energy, an occurrence recorded by my senses. Theoretical physicist, Dr. Michio Kaku, who founded the “String Theory” says our world is made up of vibrating strings. He says, “The Mind of God is music resonating in eleven dimensions throughout hyperspace!” I experience color as a phenomenon which lies within a dimension of being within which I can travel through. For me, all theories point to musical resonance. The ideas that inform my work are Eastern philosophy, Western science and my frequent dreams, exploring the cosmos.
