"Awaken the Perennial Queen"Acrylic and Chesapeake Bay sand on canvas,
40 x 30 in., 2014 Fine Art Reproduction upon request - $60. The ground warms. The temperature increases ever so slightly. Just enough for life to begin anew. Our glowing equinox rolls over like a night's shift to dawn. The celebration of nature's precious hierarchy. Never to belittle the small. - D. Kathalynas |
"Conversations in the Round"Acrylic and sand on canvas, 24 x 24 in., 2015
A circle of exchanged glances that happen whether the relationship is old, new, or yet unborn; we know each other, don't we? A sunken garden pulling you into itself like a black hole, a circle of water moving toward the drain. - D. Kathalynas |
"Creations Third Bow"Acrylic and Chesapeake Bay sand on foam board and canvas, 78 x 48 in. (3 panels @ 24 x 48 in.), 2014
(On view online only.) [1:9] And God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." And it was so. [1:10] God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. [1:11] Then God said, "Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it." And it was so. [1:12] The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good. [1:13] And there was evening and there was morning, the third day. - D. Kathalynas |
"Leap for Mankind"Acrylic on canvas, 24 x 36 in., 2014
Earthlings land on the moon and a black man becomes President. A woman runs for chief and the space between people gets smaller. We are all one when offered the precious gift of respect. - D. Kathalynas |

The only consistent thing in life is change. It will always happen like a fresh bloom in spring. Fighters push back at the insurgent ones but can anyone push back the wind? When allowing the change to be truly part of us, everyday is Easter. - D. Kathalynas |

STATEMENT
Every work of art begins with a meditation and ends with a prayer. I work deeply in the unbridled emotional self to move vibration into the chosen materials. My understanding is that we are all emotional beings that build our thought into decisions and actions. When in touch with my pure emotions, and creating, I connect with the observer of my art through ultimate purity. My artwork resembles paintings in which can be hung or mounted on wall space but I call this work “images loosely referred to as paintings” because their origin and the process in which they are conceived are more than aesthetically crafted paint to canvas images.
I begin in silent-mind meditation and allow the first higher thought that enters my mind to forge the direction of my artwork. I call this process First Thought Creation. I have no expected outcome of the work. Essentially, I am just the listener.
I am the meditation leader and resident artist at the Norfolk Botanical Garden, a practiced musician that inscribes my artwork with music and poetry as well as a creator of videos that takes others on video journeys that I call Experiences.
