Morphogenesis of Visual SoundDimensions of Being Series
Encaustic on birch panel 23" dia., 2011 “Morphogenesis is the biological process that causes an organism to develop its shape. Rupert Sheldrake, an English biochemist, is known for his theory of morphic resonance. Edward Maryon's “Marcotone, Science of Tone-Color”, says all colors have corresponding tones and I hear and feel the resonance of color as I paint. I believe one’s thoughts create the resonance, which creates form.” - C. Goodridge |
Shiva's DanceEncastic on greenhouse grade glass
28"h x 24"w, 2017 "For me, birds dance as they fly with wings appearing as many. As my spirit is that of a bird, I personify myself in this form, soaring upward to great heights of being, strong and sure on the wing. Choosing the beautiful female kingfisher bird (Alcedo Atthis) seemed a fitting visual poem." - C. Goodridge |

STATEMENT
Through synesthesia, I hear and feel the resonance of color as sound, subtle vibration. Imagination points to space and time in a spectrum of energy, an occurrence recorded by my senses. Theoretical physicist, Dr. Michio Kaku, who founded the “String Theory” says our world is made up of vibrating strings. He says, “The Mind of God is music resonating in eleven dimensions throughout hyperspace!” I experience color as a phenomenon which lies within a dimension of being within which I can travel through. For me, all theories point to musical resonance. The ideas that inform my work are Eastern philosophy, Western science and my frequent dreams, exploring the cosmos.
