"Healing through the Arts is very necessary to release the things that mentally, physically, and spiritually holds us captive within human nature. The term goes without saying "If the center (inner balance) is not aligned nothing else will be. "According to the American Psychological Association, Chronic Stress is linked to the six leading causes of death; heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide. More than 75 percent of all physician office visots are stress-related ailments and complaints" Hartz-Seely D.S
As a former Special Ed. Teacher Assistant of 8 years, I have used Art to alleviate communication barriers with at risk youth to promote positive reinforcement within classrooms and school culture district wide. Moreso, I have developed and implemented curriculum based projects to strengthen hand and eye coordination for those students and young adults that suffered from physical and intellectual disabilities.
Providing a medium of expression through the arts allows individuals to free their minds and souls of things that weigh on the spirit on a consist basis by replacing voids and anxieties with hope, self confidence, awareness, and passion. As a result the body has a chance at fighting in the race for longevity." - Shantelle Fuller
