Wendy Sittner
"My Medicine"
Date: December 10, 2016 - 10 AM to 12 Noon
Description:
We all have to take medicine sometimes. Not all medicine makes our body FEEL better even though it might help us become healthy. And not all “medicine” comes in the form of a liquid or pill. Think of other types of “medicines,” kinds that help our SPIRIT or SOUL feel better. Maybe it’s hugs, kind words, pictures of animals, fuzzy socks…
Each participant will be given a drawing of a medicine bottle to fill with words, magazine images, and their own drawings of things that help them feel good. The participants and their families will be able to keep this artwork as a reference for when times call for more than just the usual medicine.
Wendy Sittner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She studied Art Therapy in graduate school and has implemented expressive arts interventions in her clinical work with children and adolescents.
Materials:
Magazines, paper, stickers, scissors, glue sticks, crayons/markers/colored pencils
