I prefer mental images that come from my imagination when I create my art. I paint feverishly feeling each movement and then step away to consider my results. The work is complete when I have nothing left to say and can happen in an instant, it is instinctual. I explore a rich synthesis of pattern and spatial composition, through various media. Color excites and motivates me - I transform the images in my head onto paper, canvas and other surfaces. I am inspired by my Greek heritage. The colors, history, people and their vibrancy are a part of me and stir my soul. When I visit Greece, I am immersed in the glory of the Byzantine churches, ancient ruins and stark white villages of the islands. I am surrounded by the colors of Greece: aquamarine, cobalt, cerulean. My work opens a window to my soul, revealing who I really am. - N. T. Stratos
