About The Artist
Artist Statement
The official beginning of Carnival is a painting which depicts the Renegades Band – the percussionists playing on steel drums as they proceed to move along the streets at the dawn of day.
Bio
Ms. Cambridge, an artist and teacher, is a native of Trinidad and Tobago. She is also a member of the Millennium Arts Salon in Washington, DC and the Arts Society of Trinidad and Tobago. Currently, her works are on exhibit at the Kramer Gallery in Silver Spring, MD. Other exhibits include those at the Sumner Museum, the Jackson Art Center, the Duke Ellington School of Arts and the House of Scientists in St. Petersburg, Russia.
A recipient of many awards, she received her BFA and MFA at Howard University, and her MFA in Museum Studies at Syracuse University. She initiated and curated a rooftop art exhibition at the Veridian in Silver Spring, MD in order to raise funds for Haiti. Ms. Cambridge’s works are in both private and public art collections such as the Latin American Museum (OAS), the Howard University Gallery of Art and the Christ Church for Better Living in Trinidad.
