Train ride to L'Aquila!
The beautiful grounds of Villa Dragonetti, where our group stayed during a weekend adventure in the spectacular Appenines mountains of Italy. Our gracious host, Alfredo Ranieri Montuori, Vice President of the Aquila Cultural Association, "L'Aquila Siamo Noi" guided us on our great adventure. We stayed here, at Villa Dragonetti, on the border of the Gran Sasso National Park. We enjoyed eight course dinners and musical concerts.
Little William Spence III accompanied the conductor of Saxofonia Ensemble. We were honored by the Mayor of Abruzzo Region with a delicious five or six course luncheon before they performed. This little maestro is the nephew of Wanda L. Spence who traveled to Italy with eight of her family members, and sold her piece to an Italian collector. Nia Talvarides Stratos donated her painting to the Mayor.
Baroque Ensemble "Réunion de Musiciens" gave a lovely performance for our group as Art Impact Gold Members were the special guests of L'Aquila Siamo Noi.
Touring Rome to Promote the Artists
Our mission is to promote art and our members - showing our best and brightest face to the world. We visited several venues, including art museums and galleries. We presented the exhibition catalog to gallerists, museum staff, artists, musicians, writers and other esteemed members of the Italian art scene. Art enthusiasts and other citizens of Rome were thrilled to meet American artists! The venues where we had friendly exchange included places in Rome, Naples, and L'Aquila:
- Sala 1 - International Centre of Contemporary Art
- Galleria Varsi
- RvB Arts
- Dorothy Circus Gallery
- Antiquariato Valligiano
- Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna
- MAXXI - Museo Nazionale Delle Arti Del XX! Secolo
- Arte Aiubilaeum

OUR FUTURE
What's Next?
We've applied for our 501(c)3 tax-exempt status. 700+ pages of documentation have been submitted with IRS Form 1023, last June. We expect the determination letter to be received somewhere between October and December of this year.
We had a tremendous response to the "Light of Our Future" artist call. The show will open on Saturday, October 1st at Children's National. We are still organizing the musicians and artists for this three and a half month exhibition program.
The Oxon Hill Library has invited us to show in their gallery this November. This is great news since one of our quiet campaigns is to get artist books into libraries, and market them across the country. Training is currently underway to get this done effectively. 40% of Americans have been in a library in the last month. Less than 5% of them have been in a bookstore. Yes, bookstores are closing, but libraries are booming.
For 2017, Art Impact USA will offer it's new Platinum Membership level. This is for the more seasoned artists who have a rich legacy of work which must be documented and shared with all. We will create books as a self-publishing company and sell on Amazon, and to large book wholesalers. In keeping with our mission, we must continue to bring light into the world, and nurture humanity through art, now and through the ages.
Where Are We Going?
Our previous host, Alfredo Ranieri Montuori, Vice President of L'Aquila Cultural Association, has invited Art Impact USA back to Italy to produce an arts festival in the town of L'Aquila during the summer of 2017. We are currently organizing this event and working together with the Mayor of Abruzzo region to make this a successful cultural exchange. Stay tuned and get ready!

Through meeting several key people during two significant events, we made important connections with cultural directors and other key players in the international creative community. The Caribbean Legislative Week (held during Caribbean American Heritage Month-June) was held at the White House and on Capitol Hill and organized by the Institute of Caribbean Studies. It was sponsored in part by the World Bank. On July 25th and 26th we also attended the World Summit on the Creative Economy and Creative Industries organized by National Creativity Network.
