Heart Gallery Adoption Outreach Specialist (MD, DC, No. VA)
Do you have a marketing background with a desire to utilize your skills to help children in foster care find their forever families? If so, the Adoption Outreach Specialist may be the position for you.Adoptions Together is looking for someone to manage the Heart Gallery, which is an exhibit that highlights children currently in the foster care system who are available for adoption. This person will be responsible for:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience in public relations, marketing and customer engagement.
Additional Requirements:
Each employee is required to complete (and maintain as necessary) a physical exam to include a TB test, a criminal background check in identified jurisdictions, and Child Protective Services Registries check in identified jurisdictions.
Maintenance of valid driver’s license and good driving record; flexible hours to include some evenings and weekends. The Outreach Specialist needs to be physically able to transport and set-up the Heart Gallery display. The ability to travel throughout Maryland, Washington, DC and Northern Virginia is required.

- All aspects of venue solicitation, procurement and installation of the exhibit;
- Working with local agencies to identify candidate children for inclusion on the Heart Gallery as well as coordinating photo shoots between agencies and photographers; and
- Following-up with families who inquire about adopting and providing guidance regarding the next step in the process.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Strong marketing, social media and family recruitment skills required.
- The ability to engage with others, including clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, computer, and online skills.
- Ability to think and work independently, prioritize and problem solve.
- Enthusiastic use of technology including computer and database management.
