BIO
I was born in Washington and received a Masters’ Degree in printmaking from the University of Maryland. I have exhibited extensively with works included in public and private collections in the USA, Brazil, Norway, Sweden, Beijing and Ireland. My current work is a combination of various mixed media techniques from printmaking, drawing, collage and sculpture. My inspiration draws from the human condition of my ancestors and how they were able to overcome the atrocities and humiliation of slavery and move beyond that to also become inventors, nobel peace prize winners, astronauts, and just recently the President of the United States. Their strength and resilience gives me the courage to create.
Statement
"Indigo is a series of prints and drawings inspired by spontaneity and impulse, which I have also coined, "the color dance." The one color that they all have in common is indigo. Indigo creates depth and drama and is closely connected to my African Heritage."
