About The Artist
Artist Statement
My passion is printmaking! Stone lithography was my first love, although I enjoy the different processes and techniques. Through the years my work has evolved to include mixed media and three-dimensional prints. My imagery consists of overlapping colors, textures, patterns and stencils. I am fascinated by Adinkra philosophy, while often incorporating the symbols into my work. However my reason for creating is based on my developing knowledge of my history and ancestors. The more I learn the more I am able to comprehend the strength and resilience of the African American spirit against all odds. This knowledge gives me the courage and the freedom to create.
