About The Artist
Artist Statement
A girl in shimmering gold smiles at me from the center of an extraordinary array of colored plumage that extends in all directions like the rays of the sun. Another girl looms majestically over my head, raised high by stilts. Magic happened when African art, music and ritual mixed with the culture and people of the West Indies and New York City's West Indian Day Parade is an annual celebration of this magic. The love and happiness is almost palpable in the air, and it's that joyful celebration I try to record with my camera each year.
