My painting/collage is about the spirit of positive Energy. "Carnaval" is all about Energy - energy pulsates through our music, delights itself in dance, and displays its splendor in the floats and costumes. As a visual artist, I seek to capture the essence of Energy and celebrate its power through our culture.
About The Artist
Artist Statement
Carvanal is about having the “Energy” to participate, through making the costumes, floats, creating music, dance and the visual arts. The Energy Series “paintings/drawings collages” on paper, is conceptual approach that merges my signature abstract works with mixed media. It is an attempt to advance my creative process through collage making. Through this method, I am able to depict a painting with figures or adjoin a drawing with alluring line movement using several mediums to create a whole “collage.” Materials for each collage varies: Char Coal, Chalk Pastel, Oil Pastel, Acrylic Paint, Oil Sticks,
My collage process, I can create multiple images in an unlimited manner. I am able to explore different and new art styles while incorporating elements of my past work using charcoal vines, chalk pastels, glitters, interference colors, acrylic paints and oil sticks. For me, a panel is represented by a single drawing, a single chalk pastel, and/or an image with glitter or oil stick. When I have completed my panel presentations, I combine them to make “a whole.” Albeit, the final piece has become my “painting/drawing collage.” The combined panels are now free to be conceived as a new visual work of art.
