Lidija Eremic Jeremic
BIO
Lidija Eremic Jeremic is an artist from Belgrade, Serbia. She began pursuing an art career in the early 70's while working at an art studio in downtown Belgrade. Since that time she attended many workshops led by professors from the Art University of Belgrade and has led many workshops teaching art students various techniques. Many years later, in 2005, she participated in a year long individualized study in Cetinje, Montenegro where she learned the craft of Eastern Orthodox Iconography. Since, she has been selling icons in prominent churches throughout Serbia and Montenegro and has been accepted in the Serbian Patriarchal community.
Apart from her success in Serbia, she has been presenting and selling her work in the prominent Eastern Orthodox churches throughout the U.S. as well. In the past ten years, she developed a passion for abstract painting for which her inspiration comes from nature, as well as the social happenings around the world. Her artwork is usually described as vibrant, energetic, and radiating positivity. People often say that her art has specific organizational characteristics, which are embedded within the chaotic nature of abstract work.
She has had several exhibits in downtown Belgrade at prominent galleries and has most recently had a solo exhibit at the Art Walk in Colonial Beach, VA and the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA. Her hope is that her abstract work will bring positivity to people's houses and that the vibrant colors that she uses will bring the best out of people.
Statement
"Inspired by the Adriatic Coast in Montenegro and the juxtaposition of rough mountains and the calm Adriatic Sea."
