Water and oil painter, Melchus Davis has been a practicing artist and a teacher of the medium for most of his life. Davis earned a degree in art education at Benedict College, Columbia, SC and a master's degree from Trinity College, Washington, DC. He has taught at the secondary level of the Washington DC public school system and as an adjunct faculty member at Howard University. He currently teaches art at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
Davis' works have been shown at several galleries in the Washington area; some include Howard University, Parish gallery, Alex Gallery, District Fine Art Gallery, Howard County Community College and internationally at the American Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa through the Arts in Embassy Program.
