Pencil, 24 x 23 in., 1991, $500
The Monk was developed during my art studies at the University of the District of Columbia. With the use of graphite pencil, every stroke represents a line to show a submissive spirit of man kneeling before his King in the dark walls of somewhere. As an artist, I am very influenced by pencil because it enhances my ability to develop a composition displaying monochromatic shades of dark against the light. Art is a vision that begins in the mind and then a born expression of light in a world filled with darkness. I want everyone to know God has blessed us with innate abilities and gifts. Artist, You Be that Blessed Light!
