Penthouse Reception Friday, May 6th at 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm Via F. E. Savastano, 20, Roma, Lazio 00197, Italy Embassy Private Reception
Friday, May 13th at 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm Tri-Mission Art Gallery "Transcending Boundaries" Opening Reception & Wine Tasting (High Security) Community Liaison Office, United States Embassy Via Sallustiana 49, 00187, Rome, Italy I've searched AirBnB and found some great possibilities for our stay, in addition to the possibility of staying at Hotel Garda. Hubert and I stayed at Hotel Garda last year. It cost 70 Euro per night plus 4 Euro tax per person per night for the first 10 days. After the 10th day they don't charge tax. This special rate is through the Embassy.
Please let me know if you are planning to travel to Rome as soon as possible, so I can add your name to the list of artists who will attend the opening reception. You are allowed only a few guests, and we need to know their names as well and their relationship to you. Don't forget your passports! Send me a copy of your passport bio page with the photo. This year, we've made reservations here ($28/day for the month): https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/509246?checkin=05%2F03%2F2016&checkout=06%2F03%2F2016&guests=2&s=b7SU839G Find possible listings here for accommodations to start: http://www.artimpactusa.org/airbnb Hubert and I have booked our flights with Delta from JFK, May 3 - June 3. Hopefully by this time next year we will have secured grant money and corporate sponsors to help defray the costs of these international exhibitions. That's the plan! DEADLINES:
CATALOG DESCRIPTION:
Production of the catalog is starting next Monday, March 21st so please make sure to re-send higher resolution image files of your artwork if you know you only submitted a small or fuzzy image to me initially. Send your final contents before production starts 3/21:
Each artist will have a full page in the catalog, room for a brief bio and statement along with the image of the art.
Production of an exemplary exhibition catalog will be used to leverage our stay in Rome. I will be using this portfolio of images to present your work to galleries and art museums in Rome. Your contribution of $100 covers the production, printing, shipping, postage and distribution of the exhibition catalog. Five copies for each artist to send to their circle and the rest to leave at the embassy and for mailing or physically bringing to galleries in Italy and the US as a promotion for the artists. Each artist will get at least one full page for the art image and brief bios with head shots at the back of the catalog. The Rome curator says security has increased at the embassy because of the latest terrorist attacks therefore allowing only for the artists and close friends and family to attend the first reception inside the embassy, We are trying to arrange a second reception at the home of Paul Berg, Minister Counselor of Political Affairs in Rome. Mr. Berg was kind enough to host the second reception last year. This year we would like to contribute to the refreshments since there will be more artists involved. This is what I need from you as soon as possible:
Let's use this app to stay connected with each other while in Rome, or any where else long distance. It's free and you can call anyone else who has this app on their phone for free. You just need a WiFi connection to make the call. After the first year it costs ninety nine cents/year.
Go here to learn more: https://www.whatsapp.com/ It's a lot like Viber. I have both. This was recommended by Phyllis Stephens, a fellow exhibiting artist, who is very happy with this service. Please share any tips you can think of to make this exhibition campaign a success. If you are traveling to Rome you need a passport. The Embassy requests you send a picture of your passport bio page for their record ahead of your entrance on the grounds. So make sure you send me the image of your passport bio page as soon as possible.
If family and friends are accompanying you they too must send me a copy of their passport bio page. When you send the list of guests you must also include their relationship to you (i.e., friend, colleague, mother, sister, boyfriend, fiance, husband, etc.) Congratulations to the Artists! Exhibition Dates: May 6, through May 31, 2016 Embassy Opening Reception: Friday, May 6, 9:30 – 11:00 a.m Artists, Friends and Relatives are welcome to join us in Rome!Schedule Your Airline Tickets, Tours, Room and Board Soon!
